Safety Best Practices

Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned jumper — safety always comes first. Here are the fundamentals every skydiver should know.

Pre-Jump Checklist

Always do a full gear check: 3-ring system, AAD on, closing loop condition, reserve pin, cutaway & reserve handles. Never rush the check.

Weather Awareness

Check wind speeds, cloud base, and visibility before every jump. Max wind for students: 14 knots. Know your limits — the sky will be there tomorrow.

Emergency Procedures

Drill your EPs until they're muscle memory: Check altitude → Look at canopy → If malfunction: Cutaway → Deploy reserve. Practice on the ground regularly.

Altitude Awareness

Know your hard deck (typically 2,500 ft AGL). Deploy by your planned altitude. If in doubt, deploy high — altitude is your best friend.

Canopy Traffic

Follow the landing pattern: downwind → base → final. Right-of-way to lower canopy. No hook turns unless trained — most fatalities happen under a perfectly good canopy.

Stay Current

If you haven't jumped in 60+ days, do a refresher course. Currencies rust. Jump with experienced friends, film your jumps for review, and never stop learning.

About the Sport

Nothing compares to freefall. You exit the plane at 15,000 feet, reach 200 km/h in seconds, and experience 60 seconds of pure weightlessness before deploying your canopy. The parachute ride down gives you 5-7 minutes of peaceful views. It's the best combination of adrenaline and serenity.

Your first jump will be a tandem — strapped to a certified instructor. After that, if you're hooked (you will be), take the AFF (Accelerated Freefall) course: 7 levels of supervised solo jumps. Once you pass, you earn your A-license and can jump independently. Most drop zones offer courses year-round.

There's a whole world beyond belly flying! Freefly (head-down, sit-fly), Formation Skydiving (building patterns), Wingsuit flying (gliding like a bird), CRW (canopy formation), Speed Skydiving (reaching 500+ km/h), and Swooping (high-performance canopy landings). Each discipline has its own community, competitions, and progression path.

We're a group of friends from Catalonia who share two obsessions: skydiving and off-road motorcycling. Since 2011, we've been jumping together, riding the Pyrenees and Alps, and documenting every adventure on YouTube and Instagram. We're not a business — just fun jumpers and riders who love sharing the stoke. Follow along!
